Toby spoke to Anna Hill of Farming Today on BBC Radio 4 this morning (Wednesday 23rd October). In anticipation of his lecture at the Royal Agricultural University this evening, he discussed the importance of good management of the dairy cattle population in order to achieve a high milk yield. He highlights the main problems to higher milk yields – bad management, housing and poor silage – and suggests ways that these issues can be resolved, mainly through improved herd management.
