Toby Mottram, founder of eCow, spoke at the Global Forum for Innovations in Agriculture (GFIA) 2014 conference, held on 3rd and 4th February 2014 in Abu Dhabi. He spoke on the subject “Agri-Monitoring with Biodegradable Wireless Sensor Networks”, which discusses applying the approach used within the eCow bolus technology in wireless sensing networks for water and soil management. The idea is that expensive and intrusive wired systems can be disposed of if a similar technology to the bolus is used instead, which would also be biodegradable thus environmentally friendly.

The conference hosted more than 100 exhibitors presenting the latest innovations and services in sustainable agriculture, and over 150 presentations on how innovation can be driven forward for a revolution within agriculture.
